Hi. On one of my previous backsaw builds I added a small piece of shaped brass plate to the bottom saw screw hole.

A larger plate that covered more of the cheek face would have been a better option at the time, so hear is the same handle after this change was made.

Hi Mark. The brass plate is inlaid into the handle to a slightly raised surface.

It's a beauty!

One thing that popped into my brain ( scary huh!) was the possibility of extending the brass plate along the bottom of the handle. Say about 3/8ths wide to span the weakest part of the handle. It could be decorative but would really strenghen the connection of what I think is called the lambs tail.

Just an idea.
