Here is a cheese platter that I'm going to give to my mother in law(MIL) for xmas. She likes the segmented stuff and wanted a platter and a matching vase. Vase is still being glued together and needs to be turned.

The wood is an interesting combination of maple, cherry, walnut and some oak that came from an old school house in Iowa. I sort of threw this together with some scraps I had laying around the shop and it's kind of funky..and it fits my MIL

Nice looking cheese platter. I like the contrasting colors and how flat you were able to make the platter.

Great looking platter.

Chances are the platter will have joint failure over time, DAMHIKT.

Neat looking piece, but the differing grain directions is a bit worrisome as the others implied. I like the funky pattern!

Certainly not a cheesy platter, but cheese will really look good on it. Pretty wood combination. Thanks for sharing.

Scott, you did a nice job on this one. I do think the suggestions regarding grain pattern are relevant. While you may not have any issues with this one, the odds are against you - particularly if it is subjected to any moisture or ambient air changes. I hope we all are wrong!
