Here's an incubator that's taken up the weekend and first part of the week. The woodworking was done in no time, but finding scrap parts for a heating element, fan, thermostat, and switch and figuring out how to wire it took the majority of the hours.
it's made from OSB and spruce with plexiglass window doors.

she should be able to incubate about 8 doz chicks and guinneas at a whack.
thanx for looking,
brad
feel free to offer suggestions for the next one

Looks great, we expect to see pictures of the first hatches too.

Can't say I've ever seen a home made one before, but it looks like it would work. What are you going to do with all the chickens???

she's probably going to raise some more guinneas. they're low in number right now. she loves to fiddle with banny chickens as well.
the guinneas keep the tick population down, so they're the priority.
thanx for the nice comments.

One possible concern...

Not sure if it'll be a problem or not, but with warm air being constantly circulated inside the enclosure, will out-gassing of the OSB be a problem? There might be some formaldehyde fumes coming off it. If so, it could affect the hatch.

Just a thought...
