I have completed yet another PT Cruiser shelf. This one will be delivered to a gentleman at a fundraiser for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Posse in Anthem. Side one is made from some stunning black walnut and figured cherry inlaid in a herring bone pattern. It is finished with 3 coats of outdoor oil and 4 coats of water based acrilic. The picture does not do it justice. The finish is not perfect, but it really brings out some of the deep golden colours and figure in the walnut.

Side #2 is upolstered with some raisin grain bison leather. I am not totally in love with this stuff! Just look at the grain and colour in that leather! It is also very soft and easy to work with. I am definately going to use this leather for future projects.

The pics are big, so I am posting links to them.
Overall, I am happy with the way it turned out. However, when I was gluing up the cherry, I lost the pattern and had to fill some voids with wood putty. There are also some small blemishes in the finish that I was not able to get out. I was going to try and fix it, but the more you futz with it, the worse it gets, eh?

PS. please excuse my rambling. I just finished a bottle of 1996 Cantillon Iris Lambic. After 9 years of aging, this beer has really developed a rich, complex, and wonderful flavor!
