I think this piece turned out pretty good, at least the wife is happy with it.

She wanted a smaller piece for the coffee table that would hold some Christmas candy.
Maple with some figure, that the colors really brought out.
First dyed black, sanded back then a carmine red. Rim was textured with the dremel and dyed black then several coats of wipe on poly.
9" x 1 3/4"

Boy John that is a beauty. I can see why your wife loves it. Will make a great candy dish.

I've still got a number of these maple blanks that I'm sure will take on a similar look but perhaps in a rainbow of colors.
I'm thinking that perhaps they will make for some nice Christmas gifts, pretty simple turning with a bit of embelishment and color, and something that perhaps will be used year round.

John, the color works very well with the natural interior and dark rim treatment. Very nice! Now, you need a green one for the real Christmas look!
