I recently found some roughed out boxes I hadn't seen for awhile. Two were too badly cracked to turn so into the wood stove they went. They range from 2" to 4-1/2" tall. The three on the left are Black Hawthorn which is much hated by ranchers around here. These were all from small limbs and include the pith which ends up looking pretty good once the bee's wax is melted in. Let me know what you guys think.

That looks like a fun find... and the boxes turned out great. Need to get back in the shop and get some cranked out for Christmas.

Very nice. Another thing on my "got to try that" list. The red really does add interest.

Nice shapes and that little bit of color adds a lot of character/charm! I have only tried some spalted birch for endgrain hollowing. I need to expand my horizons!
