Welcome Bruce;
The wood and finish look great, you did a good job with a difficult shape. The flat interior and abrupt change from wall to bottom are hard to do without leaving tool marks.

Bruce, Welcome to the forum and glad you decided to post your work. You will find a lot of constructive ideas from these guys. You have probably been lurking for a while and you have seen the marvelous work they produce. You will have to watch out for that Keeton guy a little bit. He can be a handful:D:D ROFL. Seriously, there is no one around that has a better eye for form than John. This is a great bowl. I love the wood. Don't know how long you have been turning but I would keep this one to compare to all future work. Listen to these guys and you will be amazed where you travel.

The only caution I can give you is WATCH OUT!!!! These guys will drag you into the vortex so fast your head will be spinning faster that your lathe (replaced with the new Mustard Monster).

welcome Bruce. You sure picked a challenging form to show us on your first post. I'm going to guess it's not the first bowl you have turned either. Very nice finish on it too.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. John, I bought an inexpensive lathe almost two years ago to turn some legs for a small desk. Since then I have turned a few bits and pieces, all basic bowls. i am getting more interested in turning as I get further into retirement.
