So I am a new WW and one thing that I had to fix was the use of acid brushes for spreading glue. I do understand why people feel the need to use a disposable brush to keep things moving and simple. However having painted many a things I will say that these tools do a really poor and ineffecient job. My solution was simply to use a better brush ($5) and throw it into a small jar filled w/water to preserve it. Much, much better results with a very easy switch.

Like I said small detail < big difference = worth doing.

I use the plastic spreaders that I got from Lee Valley. They seem to work very well.

John, Do these rollers have a disposable cover?

I'm like John Nesmith in reverse order. The roller I use is actually a pastry roller with a silicone roller. Even if I let the glue get a little cured (which is seldom), it pops right off.

A toothbrush is a good addition to the three above.

I use my index finger. I clean it my wiping on the underside edge of my bench.

For wide boards like a bench-top glue-up, I use bondo squeegees. I also like acid brushes for edge joining.

I have 3 of these now..

F (http://www.amazon.com/Robert-Larson-800-2855-Roller-Bottle/dp/B000CCXO04)or larger stuff, they are awesome.. Started using them for counter tops and they cut the gluing time down to zip.. They seem like they could be messy, but after you put a half a mile on one, you get a knack for it ..

They wear out.. Basically the roller falls off .. lol .. and it would be nice if I remembered to clean them after using them .. but that ship has sailed..

I've found that acid brushes work much better if you snip off half the bristle length with a scissors.

I use old hotel room keys (the plastic credit card type). I travel a lot and instead of turning in the key I keep them. I've probably got close to 200 of them. They make great glue spreaders.

THe roller on mine actually is made of some sort of hard white plastic. The dried glue peels off fairly easily.
