Is this one of the ones that is a good candidate for early model purchase. Price is $25.

For $25 run don't walk! It may not be a GWI, but it's still a Dewalt and looks like a better saw than one of the power Shop models (which I paid much more than $25 for and drove to Atlanta to pick up!).

Don't be crazy, for 25 bucks buy it.

It is probably a MBC(1/2hp). The round CI arms are considered the good ones. For $25 it is worth it. It is worth more in parts and could probably double you money at least if you decide you don't want it.

You know, I bet you could get $25 for that round knob on the back. I know I'm missing one. I'm trying to figure out how to turn a wooden sphere about the right size to hold a threaded insert.

Jerome,
I turned all the knobs for my GWI. The pictures are here. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?171689-Finally-finished!!!-DeWalt-GWI-RAS If you have any questions PM me. Cary

Jamie

Those older DeWalt saws are really well built and hold their adjustment well. The only problem is that the motors aren't particularly powerful and you may find yourself wanting to upgrade motors after a while. Any of the later 10" DeWalt or Black and Decker motor/yokes will pretty much fit, so you can watch for a good deal on a later, less desirable model and harvest the parts.

Also, if you buy the saw, make sure to get a decent RAS blade with low or negative angle teeth. It's a safety issue.

Yup. I'd snatch that up, immediately, and figure out what I'd bought, and if I'd made a mistake, AFTER I owned it :)

Thanks David and others for the very useful info. I have not been able to pull the proverbial trigger as of yet but we'll see, it is in the town where my bro lives so I might have to wait a minute.
