Rob S., a fellow Creeker and co-worker, called and said he took a maple in his yard down and need a hand cutting it up and sealing it. So, spent the afternoon helping him. Here are the pics of the haul. Now it's time to process them for a variety of blanks.

Looks like enough to keep you more than busy for a while Nate. With so much, you should try spalting a little of it. Can make for a pretty combination.

I need to mention that was the entire haul. I only took a couple of pieces.......this time. The rest is in Robs driveway.

And where exactly is Rob's driveway?

Doc, that's a better kept secret than where Jimmy Hoffa is buried.

Nate, I really appreciated the help, and I have more maple then I'll be able to turn anytime this year. Nate mentioned a wood swap and I haven't turned any Mesquite before. I'll cut a round blank to fit in a large priority box if someone has something different to trade.

Hey Rob,

Will you save a piece for me? I can pick it up when I visit my parents for Thanksgiving. I can bring you some cedar or oak if you would like.

Thanks,

Greg

Nate, on behalf of Rob S., I'd like to say thank you for taking him up on his offer. I have offered wood many times for help cutting it up, and many times got no response or maybe one yes. Funny how you can't give wood away sometimes... On that note, I've made some really great friendships with the few fellow Creekers that have taken me up on wood give aways. Those friendships are priceless. I hope you and Rob create a great relationship...if you haven't already...

Oh, and nice haul! Did you leave any for Rob? :D

Oh!!! It's a putter!!! (your avatar.) For some reason I kept seeing Pinocchio's foot.

Thanks, Betty, I needed a good laugh. Yes, it is a wood putter. Again, I really needed that...

Mike,

It is good to have friends around, if only to talk turning with. Rob and I have been friends for about 4 years now as we work at the same place.
