Slider Attachment for Rockwell TS

Guys I have a 10" Rockwell table saw that I purchase and I would like to add a slider attachment to it.Its not my main saw but I want to use it for dado's and crosscutting such as 1x12" shelfing,1x2's etc.I can't afford a real slider but I would like to come close without having to rob a bank. What would you recommand and what should I avoid???And who would have the best pricing-----Carroll

A shop made sled is no doubt the most affordable way to do what you want to do.i

Excalibur and Exactor are the first ones that come to mind. 80/20 extrusions would be another option. There's other options but in 30 seconds that's the best I can do.

Delta makes a sliding attachment for your saw. Used is the way to go.

I have a slide for my Uni-saw that sits in the corner after a few projects.

When considering a slider, first determine just ust how much room the shop has and how much room you are willing to give up. When not in use, most sliders take up large amounts of space. The Exaktor Tool site will give you an idea as to the footrpint: http://www.exaktortools.com/slidingtables.htm

If you do not have room, a good 10" or 12" sliding compund miter saw on a mobile cart with supports might be an alternative. Set the depth of the cut and utilize a router plane or clean out the waste with a chisel then clean it up with a dado clean out bit and router:

There is an old fine woodworking book about shop made tools. It contains a slider. Think Guy Perez is the author for that section. Used skate bearings to implement the carriage. It used to be on my to-do one day list...

I heard Jessem is going to start building the Mast-R-Slide again shortly. Grizzly sells a table. http://www.grizzly.com/products/Sliding-Table-Attachment/T10223. You never said how much you want to spend. A used RAS from CL will do what you want also for cheap.

Carry Falk: yes, a good used radial arm saw (RAS) would do the trick, esp. for what the original poster wants to do. Probably find a "pre-owned" RAS easier than a buying a new or used miter saw. From what I read, it seems that used RAS are not that expensive.
