Spalted Hackberry HF finished with homebrew DO, buffed and Ren wax. Found 3 blanks of this hidden out in the shop. Bottom shelf, in the corner, in the dark. Been there since Jan of ’07 according to my date on the blanks. Dry as dust and hard as Pecancrete!

Another nice one, Bill! Pecancrete...............I haven't had the pleasure as of yet.........but sounds like it could give you a real workout!

It has a very nice shape and the finish is great (not easy on hackberry). The pretty wood is a bonus.

Bill, I am going to have to keep my eyes open for some of that!! Really a beautiful piece. We have hackberry all over the place here, but I have yet to turn any of it. Need to find some spalted, for sure!

Wow what a knock out piece of wood. Great job turning and you've made a real beauty there. Thanks for sharing. Now I want to find some spalted hackberry.

Bill, I like the form a lot. What is the diameter vs height of the main hollow form?

Oops, sorry Ron I forgot those. 6x3.5 and 6x6 with the finial.

Beautiful wood and form Bill. Another in a long line of beautiful spalted hackberry pieces I have seen posted. Does it ever spalt "blandly" like most other woods do occasionally?

That is some great incentive to clean up the shop now and then! Nothing wrong with this one Bill!

Living far out on the west coast, I know nothing of the wood but you certainly did it well. It sounds like a challenging piece of material to work and you produced a lovely form and fantastic finish.
