I got a call from a friend that works for Rockler Thursday and he told me that the black 3520 Powermatic lathes are sold out. That did not make me very happy since I have been saving for one and was only about 2-3 weeks from making my order. Lucky for me the local Woodcraft had 1 set up for a display. HAD is the key word. I know it is still clean, sorry I had to do the family thing tonight. Tomorrow is another story. I will get some sawdust on the beast. Here is a picture to prove it happened. Thanks for looking, and feel free to tell me how bad I suck..:cool:Russell

You can always buy a bunch of Powermatics $20 a can mustard paint. Then you'd have a real lathe. ROFLOL. Seriously, congratulations on the new lathe. A friend of mine just got one too. They look real nice.

OK, you SUCK, but the suckage would increase if you got a discount because it was a display model.... Nice lathe!!

Beautiful lathe and I'm sure it will bring you many years of happy turning. I wish that they would just start painting all their equipment this color from now on.

Russell, every since seeing the black models, I have thought they looked much better than the standard mustard yellow. That is one beautiful lathe, and I look forward to seeing all the neat stuff coming off it!

Congrats on a sharp looking lathe! I have never cared for the mustard yellow compared to the old green. Mine is well on its way to becoming brown mustard!

Gooood Sucking Russell.
Have fun on that beauty. Keep it covered when appling finishes, and dyes, My Mustard is changing color in places.
Be sure to wipe off front and back sides after oiling. Oh heck just use it, It should not always look like display model.

Russell Eaton

Steve your math is off. The count is 5the now. 4 wood and 1the metal. I will hold at 5the for a while... I hope..

Russell, that rocks! I think that was a great promotion for PM and if I recall, they upped the warranty for these to 7 years over the standard 5. Throwing in the extension is nice touch..should be standard equipment anyway IMO.

Have fun with that and .... I have to say it...

May the force be with you!:D

Good show there Russell. Now you will be able to tackle that Myrtlewood Burl piece with ease. I finally cut into my piece completely destroying a brand new band saw blade in the process. Got one natural edge piece turned -- it has a lot of cracks, but looks okay. I will try another soon and will post some pictures of it then. In-the-mean-time you keep on turning.

Wow that is awesome. I have the yellow version. Wanted the black but just couldn't justify 2 of the same lathe, onyx finish or not...

ugh, curses to you sir! Your warning of impending lack of availability may well have caused me to do something rash that I'll likely regret (lets say that amazon no longer shows it as available either... as of about 10 minutes ago when the "1 remaining" was sold).

Oh yeah, besides all that - congrats on what I really hope is a very sweet machine.
