This is something I started last year, got feedback from the creekers, and decided to get back to it. Sometimes I just need to put things aside and start fresh a year later:D. The bottom, collar and finial are walnut & the main body curly maple. It measures 7" across and 5 1/2" tall and finished with 4 coats of AO. As usual, my pics are awful, but I guess it is what it is until I do something about a tent. Thanks for looking!

I've got to say, Roland...that is a perfect piece. The form, grains, and finish all mesh very well. If I had to give it a critique...I would say the finial may be a bit thick for some, but I think it fits well. The collar is the selling point for me. Thanks for sharing!

Roland, this piece is great. The form and finial remind me of a oil lamp and flame. I absolutely love the thin rim and may steal that!!!

VERY WELL executed! Great form.........very symmetrical and the curve from the base up to the lip on the form is really good. I like the rim treatment both on the form itself and the finial base.........of course that is killer pretty wood!

Gallery quality for sure if you ask me!

Very nice work Roland! It reminds me(if I remember correctly...and I often don't!) of another lidded dish you did a while ago. This seems more artistic! (Guess you are in the big time now!:D)

Thanks everybody for the kind comments. Baxter, I don't know if this is the one you remember, but this was the first attempt (what was I thinking?):D:D LOL

Roland, it was worth the wait! Very nice piece. I have always liked the ogee curve and this one uses it very well. I think the finial is appropriate, as it is actually the focal point of this one.
