A friend of mine wants me to make a replacement knob for a Stanley 110 plane that belonged to his grandfather. I told him I would see what I could come up with. Does anyone have one of these that they could take some measurements from? I want to get it as close to the original as possible.

Thanks

The hardest part will be to get the threading right.

Once you have that, just make something that looks like the knob you see in pictures of any of the Stanley block planes that have a wooden knob, like the #110, 130, 131, 140, 203 & 220.

Often the folks that have one of the more valuable planes will buy something like a #110 just to get a replacement knob.

Yep, Some how ended up with two.
Knob is 1 1/4 tall, base dia is .939" and the top dia is 1.119"
I will try to draw it in sketchup and see if I can post it.
Or I can send it to you if you don't have sketchup you can down load Sketchup viewer.

Bobby, Here is a picture of the knob.
I have a sketchup file but can't load it here.

IF I get out to the shop this weekend, I'll take a couple pixs of mine. Back when they were painted a blue colour, with a dark wood for the knob. Mine looks a little different than Dale's.

Mine are black. Both knobs are the same.

Bobby, e-mail and file sent.
Hope it helps.

You may want to check ebay for one. Ive seen them in the past.

Depending on how fancy he wants it to be...Stanley still sells them, made from some innocuous hardwood (maybe birch?) and stained kind of a medium brown. They're not as nice as the rosewood ones, but they aren't expensive.
