I have just about finished my workbench and went to the borg last night and had a piece of hardboard cut to use on the top as a removable cover for the really messy jobs.
What finish should I use on the hardboard to make for easy cleanup? Also, I have finished my bench with wipe on poly and wonder if I should wax also?
Many thanks for your thoughts.

I didn't use any finish or wax on mine. It blots up spilled coffee and stains & paints wonderfully! I put it on about 3 years ago and its about time to put on a new one.

I put on 3 coats of some old poly I had laying around the shop. This was about 5 years ago and last fall I fliped it over and did the poly thing again. Should be good for another 5 years.

Thanks.... wasn't sure if I could go with poly or should use some sort of oil instead.
Of course I like the natural "absorbtion" idea also
Just like to make things as easy as possible for clean up.
