i tend to drool when i see pictures of a big open wood shop with plenty of room for machines and everything else.
but i came across pictures of Jacques Jodoin's shop and my mind has been changed, his shop is pretty large and
the best way of describing it is putting ten pounds of stuff in a five pound box! but on a personal note i have
never seen a more 'cozy' shop and i want to move in!

and while your looking over the pictures (be sure to click on them to enlarge) check to see all the electrical lines in
the ceiling, the joists have to be compromised with all the holes! lol

His shop is better than a Woodcraft store, thanks for sharing.

Nice big shop. I have to wonder how he gets anything done. I would be lost in there.
Way too many tools. Which to use....which to use...

One second I'm jealous, the next second I cringe at how much of a fire trap that seems.

Just as amazing to me is the absence of dust. Everything looked spotless in spite of the clutter. Dave

Good point - no dust no work ?

Way too much "stuff". I applaud his effort, but he's gone too far with tool "collecting". I find it hard to believe that anyone could work efficiently or safely in that shop.

If that shop brings him pleasure it is exactly right- for him. Dave

Kevin, not too sure "cozy" is the word...at least not for me. I'll give him this, he sure is organized and as you say, fit 10 lbs of stuff in a 5 lb box!

I'd be afraid of the joists, compromised would be an understatement. ;) The inspector must have had a field day with that!

Obsessive more like.

Sorta fascinating space but yeah looks totally inefficient, I'd have a very hard time working in there with all that visual chaos. Suppose it doesn't matter if you're a hobby-ist though.

So what is he missing?

How come he only has one table saw? Surely it makes sense to leave one setup with a dado blade all the time, no?

Maybe it has, but thanks for posting it again! Crazy shop and I'm jealous! Maybe he's a tool collector/horder and maybe it's inefficient, but who cares if he enjoys it.

I was watching the video and trying to imagine the work flow as one travels up and down the isles. But what are those glass bottle merry go rounds that punctuate the shop like large flowers? Are there small parts in those things or are they merely decorative and consistent with the insistence that there be no open space. It is like a shop that built up over many generations in the bottom of a sailing boat. I have watched the video several times. It is fascinating.

I worried about the fire trap part as well.. I worry about my own shop where fire is concerned.

Is he Canadian ? Seems like he could be with all the General stuff.. You see more of it up here than in the USA. IMO .

I like to see what is made in that shop. I would think that every jig, fixture, and set-up in there was born of some new operation that had to be done or problem that had to be solved. I could never work in there, but that space reeks of experience.

I was laughing to myself when I saw the area for all the nuts and bolts containers against the wall. I think HD and LOWES goes to HIS house when they run out of something:)
