Went to the WW show in Pomona CA. last weekend. There was a booth selling a track kit designed to use your existing circular saw. I know there are various edge guides and clamps out there (I have one), but this one was more like a real track saw, in that the saw rode on the track, not next to it. The company is called 'Infinity' something, but it is not the Infinity tool company that sells bits and blades.

The selling feature of this setup is the design of the track, it has beveled sides where the sled fits, eliminating slop, and also has a special coating on the white edge chip breaker strips which helps it keep from slipping. It also has a small chip breaker for the other side of the blade, and clamps were optional.

Another nice feature was the way two tracks fit together. The slot underneath had sliding dovetails, and joined very smoothly. Cost was $150 for the basic kit, which included a 4 or 5' track, another longer track was an extra $100.

Did anyone see this unit at a show? What are your opinions? Can anyone remember the name? I have tried googling it, but cannot find it. They said they had a couple videos on it.

Here is one from PSI (http://www.amazon.com/PSI-Woodworking-PPS-2-Portable-Not-included/dp/B0007W5STE/ref=sr_1_50?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1320254914&sr=1-50). I've seen another brand that looked pretty close, but I can't recall the name. they also make a carriage that mounts onto your circular saw and rides on one of those panel clamps, think manufacturer might be Bora...

Thanks Jerome, but those are the type that ride beside the track. I already have one of those. The one I saw rode on top, like a real track saw, with the white plastic chip breakers.

It was not the Eurekazone. I looked at it and was surprised that someone would put that much work into another system.

I was not impressed but then I have 25+ year old PC Trim Saw and bought a Festool Track Saw around 20 years ago. When the ancient Festool Track Saw disappeared I bought the current Makita Track Saw and more recently upgraded to the Festool Track Saw. We use the Makita where we only need one finished edge and I use the Festool TS55 personally.

BINGO

We have a winner. Andrew found it on, of all places, the Shopsmith site. There are three videos on you tube under True Track saw guide. At the show, a big sign said Infinity tools, which fooled me. Greg also saw it at the show, but was not impressed. Anyone else see it? I thought of getting it, but decided I would explore my options first. Now Greg has me thinking maybe I should save my pennies for the Festool.

Why not buy the original?
Note the length and thickness of the connecting keyways - the cross section is a contributor to strength.

This copy is no cheaper - and pretty clear ripoff.
