View Full Version : DJM (Krenov) style hand plane

Finished it this morning.. took 2 days because of glue up, a total of about 4 hours. Here are some pics first of it without any shape, then shaped and somewhat tuned... the Hock blade was used strait out of the box w/no honing or flatening, still have to do that yet...

Now it is entirely possible that I have the grain direction wrong... I have noticed no tearout yet. So, if it is wrong please let me know :o

It looks nice. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it appears that there's a slight uphill tilt to your grain. It might cause some problems but you can always wait and see, and if it causes a problem, change it then. It appears that it's fairly minor.
Where did you pick up the hock blade? I'd like to pick up a couple more for a few plane projects. I need a couple of round tuits as well.

It's even hard to tell if there is an upward grain pattern when looking at the real plane :D

Very nice job....That is a plane you will enjoy using....it will always be a favorite.

But you really should have posted this to the handtool forum. Most of the poor folks here are probably trying to figure out either [1] where the power cord went; or, [2] how you attach the thing to its charger. :rolleyes: :p
