Thanks Charlie. I am not sure what you are asking. The vessel is still round and all the carving is done freehand. The effect I was after was the ripple in water when you drop a stone.

Interesting effect! I don't believe I've ever seen carving done in this particular way, but I think you've achieved the water illusion nicely.

Nice Joe you been real busy. When I first seen this I thought of candy. Maybe I'm just hungry.

This piece is currently featured at Vale Craft Gallery in Chicago. If anybody is attending SOFA Chicago this weekend, be sure and catch the shuttle from Navy Pier to the River North gallery district. This is one of several pieces on display.
