Oooh! Jealous! Puts my last CL find to shame.

I particularly like the tooth protector on the dovetail saw.

I always wondered how those millers falls planes work... Is it heavier than the bailey?

James it feels about the same weight as a no 4. The tote is about the same for me; as in my hand fits if I leave my index finger along the side rather than griping the tote with it. I made a few passes on some red oak and it feels pretty good. I think I'll sharpen the blade and see how it goes on my currant project.

Thanks for posting the pictures. That tooth protector for the dovetail saw is really neat. I may have to make one for myself!

Ya it's neat how it matches the shape of the saw. It works too; I spotted it in the bottom of a plastic barrel with 20 other saws and it was unharmed.

How bout them Sooners Rick?

You really scored!! By the way, the Disston D-12 you have looks like it is actually a Disston #12, which is one of the best saws ever made. Good job!

You suck.BTW, you're in pretty select company- Roy Underhill was proudly showing off his 709 acquisition a few weeks ago at his studio.

I saw Roy Underhill talking (or read about it, I forgot where) about his favorite plane and it was a Millers Falls Buck Rogers like yours. I thought it interesting as he has used about everything out there and he chose the Millers Falls based on its performance. I've not found one yet but I keep looking.

Nice Haul!

Looks like you found the mother load.

Mind telling is the $ damage?

I believe the Disston 68 is not a common find.

Hmm - Perhaps you already know this, but that B.R. plane is worth a heck of a lot more than $50. It's hard to say exactly what yours is worth, but mint-in-the-box examples can go for up to $1200. I doubt you'll do any harm by honing the blade and making a few passes, but I wouldn't use that plane much more than that - in that condition they're rare.
