Two pieces turned lately from less than desirable wood

One is a bowl about 7 inches across, with a stripe of burred wood (air powered) and acrylic paint. The bowl is still moving a bit but I'll move on.
The second is a piece of maple with a sissoo lid, almost 8 inches tall together.
