I now own a 20 year old 10" Craftsman that just developed problems. Could fix it but been wanting to replace anyway. With Christmas deals around the corner I need to decide what I want.
I have always like the Ridgid 12" sliding saw. mainly because of the huge table. More saw than I need but HEY!, you know. Also price at $499 not much more than a 10" slider.

Also looked at a 10" slider but not much difference in price.

To be honest I could get by with a standard 12" saw.

Reviews are not much help. Get the feeling most is from people who don't know how to use a saw. They give a bad rating because it did not cut square out of the box???? I guess I am looking for what woodworkers are using. I do not make a living with my saw. I have built two decks in 20 years. never have done crown molding. So it's just general shop use.
What do you like 10 or 12" slider. 10 or 12" non-slider and what brand? I am leaning towards Home Depot offerings because I have $100 in gift cards to use up. But if a saw at another store is better, that would trump using gift cards.
UPDATE---- I have been reading and reading and now this saw is at the top of my list.Dewalt DW716

Seems to get great reviews (past sawmill creek posts and on-line), good price (amazon cheaper than HD) good cut cap. etc.... Any thoughts?
