I'm still working my way through the Black Ash Burl scraps I bought. Here are a couple of finished ornaments, still have another dozen or so in various states of being finished. Finials and tops are either Cherry or Apple. Have to say the Apple turned sweet. I'll be very sad when it's all gone. Finish is spray can laquer. Overall height is 4" - 5" and diameter of the globe is 2 1/4" - 2 1/2". Photos were a paint to take. The darn things seem to never stop swinging.

Thanks for looking. Comments and critiques welcome. My wife's C&C is that she does not like the burl section and resulting void when I did the hollowing.

I like those. Great looking wood and well done.

Paul, both are nice, but I particularly like the one with the void - both because of the void and the finial/icicle seems to fit the form a bit better.

Thank you everyone. I need to work on my finial design. I have not been planning what the design will look like, so when a really nice one comes out it is partially luck.

Outstanding Paul! Are you a self-taught fella or did you do the Cindy Drozda route, dvd? Just curious, but regardless, they look cool!!!!

I've only seen Cindy's short clips on YouTube, but her full DVD is on my wish list. I've spent a couple of days with different turners, other than that I'm self-taught.

They look good Paul, expecially the one on the right. Are you hollowing them out?

I've been making orniments as well and I've yet to make finials as nice as yours.

They are hollowed to about 1/8" wall. I've been able to keep the weight of the globe down to about .6 oz. There's another thread right now where someone was asking what people are using to hollow out ornaments. I'll post some pictures of my hollowing tools in that thread tonight.

You should see the pile on the floor that did not make it because they broke. Right now I'm getting one complete for each one that makes it.
