View Full Version : Can you use Domino loose tenons in plywood?

I am getting ready to build a few replacement cabinets for the kitchen. They will be baltic birch covered with a Walnut formica type laminate (in an effort to match the remaining cabinets). I would like to use domino loose tenons rather than staples, pocket screws or dovetails in the joinery.

My question is will this work? Can I insert the dominoes between the layers of the plywood without splitting them apart? Any other problems you foresee?

Thanks, James

I have done it many times without issue.

I certainly hope so as I have done quite a number of cabinets using Dominos for aligning and attaching face frames without issue.

What they said, regular ply and melamine faced ply with no issues.

I have used Dominoes in plywood, particle board, and even MDF and never caused any splitting. Even with the big Dominoes, which I pretty much use on everything.
