I have looked with no success. Does anyone make a floor standing drill press with an automatic table raising and lowering device. I simply get tired of crank crank cranking all the time..................

Never heard of one Jim, but you raise an interesting point. If a person were older, or young or old with arthritis or in a wheelchair, this is the one tool and operation that would be really hard if not impossible.

I have seen a conversions with a pulley and counter weights to make a crankless easier to operate

Do you suppose a cordless drill could be "pressed" into this duty?

This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3II1qLWOpRE) shows the application at 1:21.

Which is probably the best way.
A pulley on the top of the column, counter-weight in the column, and a cable connecting the weight and table.

Check this thread out: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?167526-Motorized-Drill-Press-Table

I used this Google search to find it: site sawmillcreek.org motorized drill press table
There were some other hits as well for that search.
