So I have a ton of Veritas BU planes and LOVE them, but decided it was finally time to take the plunge and try out the LN BD planes as their following is just as intense as those who love LV, and what is life without a little variety! lol!

So my first experience is with a Bronze No.3 and I added an extra 55° high angle frog for difficult grain. I love the way the plane looks and can't wait to give it a try this weekend!

Nice. I'm jealous. I don't even know why I want one, what I've got works fine for the work I do, but there's something in me that wants an LN #3. It's on the short list after I round out the other things I "need".

That was my first hand plane. Mine has a standard frog. I did notice that the sole appeared to move some. I lapped mine twice before it settled down. May have just been me. I did not know much about hand planes at the time. I love mine now. Takes a very fine feathery shaving. Mine is about 5 years old and I have never polished it. I like the patina that it is taking on. Hope you like yours as much as I like mine. Great little plane.

In the words of Gollum, "We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious...."

Interesting that Lie-Nielsen has yet again changed the laser-engraved trademark on the blades. They started out years ago not marking the blades at all, and there have been several modifications in the last 10 years or so to the trademark.

We may yet see a "Guide to the Type of Lie-Nielsen Tools: Their Production Date and Value" in 50 years...

Beautiful. I have a Bronze #4 and absolutely love it... I want to get a 55* frog for it at some point, maybe when the LN show comes back to town.

LN planes are beautiful. The #3 should be quite handy on smoothing small areas or for small projects. I have #3 Stanley that is waiting for me to tune up. Congratulations on the new acquisition. Take care,Jim
