I had a creeker visit this week. Roger Turnbough came and spent the whole day. I didn't get any pic's to post, but it did happen!!;) I'd like to think he enjoyed himself. I know I sure enjoyed meeting him & giving him a demo on how I do my deep hollowing. I only did a piece about 12" tall to demo on but the process is the same for me whether it's 6" or 30" tall.
Thanks for the Visit Roger:)

I wish Roger would have told he was going, I would have jumped in the truck and shared the gas cost. I know he wanted more info on your equipment and usage. Her's a URL to watch his turning 101http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/17839734

Yep, Creeker Visit! Made the journey in 30+mph cross winds. Really a nice drive getting out there. Pretty country out past Princeton, IL. Ever since I got my lathe, I have always wanted to do bigger work. Well, in searching around here on the creek, I discovered a couple of threads from Joe. A couple of PM's back and forth, and a phone call and I was invited out to join him and Steve Sinner in Steve's shop. What a wonderful setup Steve has! A bunch of machines, everything nicely organized and lots of big windows for natural light.

Joe started off the morning working on a very nice vessel in their standard form. Roughing and refining the form to perfection.

Then the hollowing rig was brought in. And what a hollowing rig he has. Massive boring bars, and a steady rest to die for.

I was then treated to watching Steve and Joe put the final finish on one of their signature forms.

It was a great visit, and I feel very fortunate to be invited to Steve's shop. I just happened to learn a thing or 2 while I was there too. Thanks so much Steve and Joe for allowing me to spend the day with you. I was jonesing real bad for new tools before I got there and now its even worse. Hopefully it wont be long till I am able to get what I need.

Bob you'll have to give Roger heck for not inviting you co come along. He even mentioned you at lunch. I told him that I knew you too. I think you would have had a good time too. I guess that gives you guys a excuse to come back to the Quad Cities. You guys should get together & come back & visit on a day when we have our club meeting & make a day & night out of it sometime.
