I enjoy rebuilding old Powermatic 90 lathes as much as I like to use them. I recently raised the head and tailstock on one of my lathes and filled in the gap in the bed. I'm 6' tall and the raised lathe is a perfect height for me but is too tall for some of my vertically challenged friends. So I'm looking for ideas on how to build a solid base to mount another Powermatic 90 I just picked up closer to the ground. The one thing I don't like about the OEM base is that its too narrow and doesn't have any ballast to it. I'd also like to make the new base and risers out of a hardwood like maple. If anyone as any ideas or photos to share I'd be interested in seeing them.
