The second one is definitely better quality - what was the difference between:
1. original photo quality
2. pre-engraving treatment
3. settings for engraving

you got pretty good contrast on that Maple. I have to run multiple passes to get Maple to darken.

i feel the photos were slightly different,i never touched them up or anything except to convert them to greyscale but the girl's skin was a bit darker than the boy, secondly it took awhile but i'm happy with the first one
And you do have to remove all the backgrounfd around the face(eraser)

Stan, what photo editing program are you using? There are much better ways
to knock out the background than with the eraser tool. Corel and PS have tools
within the program. They work pretty darn good around problem areas like hair
and fur.
