As you can see this piece is loaded with pyrography. It's African Sumac and the leaves are also African Sumac. It was done several years and has long ago been sold and is in a collection. I have an African Sumac tree in my yard but I have no plans to make bowls out of it. Nice wood to turn. There are several similar trees in my area and I'm keeping my eye on them in case one becomes available. It comes from a desert area in South Africa so it does well here in Arizona.

It's about 8 inches tall. C&C welcome.

Wally, everything about this one works! The form, of course, is dead on - one would expect that from the Dickerman shop, but the flow of the leaves and the contrast of the blackened areas is just perfect. I love seeing your works!

I really like this piece! The lower portion of the form seems to have an almost iridescent quality with subtle coloring... Is that natural or did you do something to create that effect?

Thanks David. No special treatment, just came out that way.

Wally, that one looks fantastic. The leaves really work well. You are a madman with that pyro work. I did one piece like that (about the same size) and just about went stir crazy burning all those dots. You must have incredible patience.
