My MM24 Minimax bandsaw has a funky throat plate.
Anyone know where to get a new one, other than direct from Minimax?

I usually make them out of MDf for the BS saw at work. On a router table, make a rabbit for it to sit flush in what ever hole is in the table. Seems to work well enough with MDf or Baltic birch.

I never liked the throat plate setup on my MM16 and when I broke it re-sawing some oak I decided to replace it with a custom brass insert.
It did require removing the table and some machining.
Here's a thread on it: Fixing a MiniMax 16 Weakness (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?105988-Fixing-a-MiniMax-16-Weakness)

that's one pretty nice throat plate. my fb600 stock plate looks similar to your mm one. you have given me a idea to make a nice one. now the real question brass or aluminum?

David, if you have a choice go with brass. I chose brass because bare aluminum can leave black marks on the wood.
