I want to make a tail stock for an old lathe that I have. I need/want to include a #2 Morse taper, but have been unable to find an insert that goes into a straight drilled hole that has the #2 Morse taper. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You will probably need to have a Machinist mill a #2 MT in the quill of your tailstock when he is threading the other end to accept the threaded rod for the hand wheel.

Jay,
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for:

2MT X 1" socket
Different diameters are available.

MSC (http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNPDFF?PMPAGE=182) has both roughing and finishing hand reamers for morse tapers size 0 through 6.
