I am trying to engrave cast acrylic on the back side, then paint the relieved area that was laser cut. When I paint the area that was laser cut, you can see a white frosting thru the paint(line serations from the engraving). Is there any way to fix this up? I am running a Speedy 300 (30w) laser engraver. Is it at all possible to engrave leaving a smooth surface with no lines visible from the opposite side?

You need extruded acrylic to do that , engraving is clearer and not frosted.
On Cast , Try other paints , water based acrylics for fill's , this often makes the frosting "dissapear" more.
You can also try a polishing pass by running over the existing file slightly out of focus and at a much higher speed or lower power than the original , this sort of "meltyfys" the frost.

If you are going to paint it try using some extruded acrylic since it engraves more on the clear side. A flame polishing might fix it, but I would try using extruded first.
