Here's the finished turning---this is the whole walnut burl I turned last week. Thought you folks might enjoy seeing her finished.

Well done, Gary - I'm sure that puppy must have beat you up good when you started in on it! Looks great!

That's a great looking piece of wood. Nice job on the form and finish. Well done.

Thanks----my turning style is different. I have never planned a design, I just remove the unwanted wood and let Mother Nature take care of the rest.

Aside from the gloss, is there any other kind of finish, oil, anything ?

I use a "Home brew" danish oil on just about everything. It's applied on the lathe----- inside and out so the wood is soaked.

Gary, nice work. Most of your stuff is on the large side - what are the dimensions on this one? Also, a profile shot would be good - this one looks to have a very nice form to it.

John, I sell most of my work at shows--- you need to stand out and get people into the booth.
We just changed our display----I will bring my camera with us this weekend and try to get a couple of shots of the display.

Quite the beast Gary! A real attention grabber for sure! Wanted to ask this in your other thread but never got around to it. What size was the facplate you started with? It looked rather dwarfed. I have a couple of 4 inch oneways and have contemplated getting something bigger or somehow bolting a larger plate to one of them when attempting something in the 25-30 range.

I use the faceplate that came with the lathe----3 1/2 cast iron. The big trick----Buy real good screws.
Herer's the last pic ----------

Thanks
