Spalted Curly Maple Crotch Bowl

I know Mr Jordan said "Life is too short to turn bad wood". But I think bad wood is too beautiful not to. This is a piece of spalted curly maple crotch that was just too nice to try and get rid of the pithy stuff. The bowl is 9.5" in diameter and about 3" tall. I used a lot of shellac to stabilize the wood, but still ended up with a little tear out, but think it adds to the piece a little. I did a lot of light scraping to get rid of the really bad stuff. Sanded dry to 300, then heavily BLO sanded with 400, coat of shellac, sanded with 400 Abranet, coat of shellac and finally sanded with 600 Abranet. I like the dull sheen as is so, don't think I won't go any farther. Comments and criticism appreciated.

Beautiful wood. That Spalted wood can get soft at times but at the right stage it is beautiful.
