Hi Ken,

.... I want to be one of the first to say: I think that you have handled the KEN GARLOCK thread “Beware of book arriving in the mail” VERY WELL. Not only did you make the necessary corrections to seven replies and the removal of one for profanity but allowed the thread to stay put after you closed it. This allows the rest of us to review and understand the necessary reasoning (passion) that closed it in the first place.

.... My hat is off to you for a job well done.

Boyd

PS: I like your coach icon, very appropriate.

Boyd, I couldn't agree more.

And Ken, nice job - yours is a long and thankless job and I for one am glad that we have someone as dedicated as you who can and more importantly will continue to enforce the TOS here at the Creek. One of the most enduring things about this site is its friendlyness. Let's keep it that way.

Thanks again to both of you for pointing this out.

Thanks for the kind words.

I didn't follow that thread. I am amazed that a thread over a book got out of hand. Wow.

Ken.....Let me add my Thanks to those already posted! I was following that thread and couldn't believe the emotion and the name calling that was going on. I've said it often... one of the many things I appreciate about this forum is the respectable way everyone is treated here! Thanks for enforcing the respect! If people can't voluntarily show it......the moderators will enforce it...Thanks again!

I didn't bother much with that thread after the first couple of posts but, being curious, I guess that I will look at it now. As Steve said: "I am amazed that a thread over a book got out of hand."

how some things light a fire under people. I had no idea that things would get so heated. I guess it just shows to go ya.

After Ken S. posting and closing of the thread I sent him an Email telling him to delete the whole thread is he wanted. :)

Live and learn

Ken,

I wouldn't worry about it. I have moderated a couple of forums. There were the few topics that were created to cause havoc, we just deleted those. The ones that always amazed us, were the ones like yours. Where it was started as an innocent thread and just spiraled downwards :)

I love SMC and the handling of this thread is one of the reason's why!

I considered deleting the thread instead of going to the trouble of editing so many posts to make it acceptable. However, I believed there was some worthwhile information there, especially in the early responses that it would benefit some of our members.
