At a recent woodwoking show I saw 2 vendors selling a drum sander that operated like a jointer. Are these any good? Do you have a link?
Thank you,
Don

I saw theses as well, it looked to me that the tables were pretty much parallel and that the sandpaper was just thousand's of an inch above the table. I think that they would work great, the way they were shown, with 3 different grits of paper on it. They showed them sanding scroll saw work, it would be great for that. I don't know how they would work as a drum sander...

I think they would work, but very slowly....

I have a drum sander and even with 36 grit, it takes a lot of passes (maybe 8-10) to get even a 1/8" off.

On my planer it takes 1... maybe 2 passes

I imagine the same is true of the machines you were looking at.

I looked at them too.... I think they work ok for small pieces, but I just can't see running an 8' piece of 8/4 maple thru it....
