This is another from Donny Lawson's wood. 7 1/4" x 8" Tall. I'm thinking about putting a short pedistal on this? C&C Welcome.

That came out really nice Ed. I didn't think I would like AM shiny but this looks good.

Ed, that wood is very nice, and the form really shows it well. A pedestal might work. You may want to consider giving it some mass such that is appears heavier than the finial. Otherwise, it may be difficult to get overall balance with the piece.

You can make the pedestal and set the piece on it... see how you like it. Another way to say what JK said is that the finial is a bit too "fat" for the size of the form and competes with it. The form itself is very nice as is the finial. But they are fighting each other for attention..

Over all it is really cool Ed! I really like the wood combination and finish!

Spectacular wood and love the form. The lighter ring is striking and I like it a lot. Not sure if it is the beefiness of the finial but the color just doesn't seem to work for me. May balance better if it lost a little weight. I like it very well without a pedestal but then there would be nothing wrong with trying it out. I did a piece similar to this on a pedestal and I am less than thrilled with the combo but mine cannot stand on its own like yours does so well.

Great piece Ed. If you do put a pedestal I agree to make it a little beefier so it compliments the finial.

Very nice Ed, on the form and the wood! A short pedestal might work, but I like it as it is.
