Work in progress "with finial"

I purposely made the finial heavier on this piece, since it's ment to serve as a lid.
Not too sure if I like it though ?
Seems as though it makes the maple collar appear to stand too high, or at least that's the impression I get when looking at the pic.
But when you hold the piece in your hand it seems right. Hmmm?
Not the best pic either as I just took it on the kitchen counter with no flash only an overhead florescent light.

To my eye the part that looks a bit off is the section I would call the neck. It seems too thick and heavy looking. OTOH, the finial looks perfect to me. 2c. Phil

I think (and this is an opinion) that it looks better without the lid. The vessel is lovely without it. Save the lid for another vessel. my 2cents

John - I agree with Michelle - looks better without the finial/lid. Without the lid, it is a nice Southwest style form. To me, the finial/lid doesn't fit with the base form. Nice finial though!
