I am building a wine cabinet that will have two front doors. Therefore I need a face frame. The cabinet is 62" wide and 90 1/2" tall. My idea for the face frame is 3,75" for the rails and 3" for the stiles. The rails will actually be 4.5" because I wat tehm to hang over on either side by 3/4" to meet some cross memebers I will have runnening to the back.

Does this sound aesthetically pleasing.

The best way that I have found to design my face frames is to draw them out on grid paper. That way you can draw them to scale, and see how everything is going to look.

Tim, I would make them all wider. That's a big cabinet.

Todd's drawing is very helpful! I like to proportion them with the stile and top rail the same and the bottom rail from 30% to 100% heavier. So 3" top and sides and 4.5 bottom would work well. Or 4.5 top and sides and 6" to 8" bottom.
