I bought a slab of Hackberry from a wood dealer that belongs to our club and I think maybe it's spalted,it has a lot of color.
I made two bowls and some bracelets. They are finished with BLO and WOP.Fun stuff to turn and I love the stiping.

That bottom left bracelet looks like it was made from stone, pretty wild.
How the grain kind of raps around the second bowls "foot" is cool.

That is some gorgeous Hackberry! All that I've turned has been very plain, though it turned nice.

Thanks for sharing!

I think you have a winner there. The bracelets are really nice.

Joe you caught me on that bracelet, that one is spalted maple and everyone says they look like stone.
I turned these bowls thick for utility use and twice turning, drying with floor dry for a month they were very stable.

Jeff, How do you like the smell? It kind of reminds of a cat box to me, but I do like the wood myself. I have a big log that I need to saw up but it has been a long summer and I am worn out! Just a few projects to go and then back to geting some turning done for Christmas.

Well Jeff I really didn't notice the smell,I just like the way it turned and the way the color pops.I have been busy every day getting ready for the Elk Mound Art and Craft show on the 15th.Can't even think about Christmas.
