I have a customer who is looking for some full color magnets. I had made some wooden and some plastic styles for her, but now she wants full color. They need to be in the shape of Montana. I have one place that has quoted me, but am looking for any other options. This may not be the place to ask, but I figured you guys would have an answer. Quantity is about 250-300 pieces. I don't sublimate or do anything in full color so the job will have to be sent out.

Thanks for your help.

Dye sub is the only full-color process I can think of that fits the bill here...

You can get a sign shop with a color printer to print them on polyester film, in quantities to fit your laser, then you can apply to the
magnetic material and cut on the laser. The setup for alignment is a little tricky but I have done this a lot and it works great.

Although Joe's process will work, there are lots of people who do this work in a much more efficient way.

Basically it's printed on a large printer on magnetic material with registry marks. Then it is brought over to a plotter which will then cut out the magnets. I'm also fairly sure there are some printer/plotter combo machines that will do the job completely without needing two machines. It's a common process and you should have no problem finding someone to do it.

I would print them to vinyl on my mimaki solvent printer and lay the vinyl down to magnetic and then laser out. I've done this process many times.....

Jeff has it right, running magnetic sheeting through my Large format printer is a big no - no, and plotters are not made to cut cut\score magnetic sheeting, you'll trash both machines. I have both here and Jeff's method is one I've used often, although my orders are for simple square or rectangle shapes which I cut/score on the table with a straight edge. The laser cut at the end is the perfect solution for what was once an expensive charge for a one-off die to be made to cut the custom shape. -Vinny

I know that this may not be the solution for the person in need here, but I thought that maybe someone may be able to use it, here (http://www.graphicsone.com/go-magnecolor.html) is a place that sales sheets of magnets that have been designed to run in Oki printers, I have not use them yet, but I'm looking forward to test them.

These guys sell magenetic sheets for inkjets. They are not super strong but may work for what you need. They should be able to be laser cut.
See if the will send you a sample.
