This little jointer is going to be a trial restoration project for me. It works really well but I'd still like to spruce it up a bit.
Basic question: what is the best paint to use over the cast iron body? And is there a magic color out there that comes close to the original Delta grey?

I just use Ace hardware gray. Worked great for the old Delta machines at work. Is your jointer a bit blue? Used to just be gray. Can't recall off hand which gray it is,but there aren't too many. Caution: The paint seems too soft for several days after it dries. Eventually,it dries very hard.

I used Rustoleum Dark Machine Grey on my Unisaw a few years back.

The bluish cast is probably because of the fluorescent light. The machine is just dirty gray at the moment. I had thought a rustoleum would work. I didn't know if I'd have to get into an automotive paint for durability. Thanks, guys.

Over at OWWM there is almost always a discussion about Delta's many different colors over the years.
