Has any one turned any Silver Leaf Poplar? A co-worker had a tree go down in a wind storm a few days ago. Is it worth trying to turn?

I'd give it a go... Poplar is a great turning wood though much of it lacks a lot of visual interest. I'd definitely grab the crotches. If it was a large tree, the wood near the base may have some interesting figure as well.
