This weekend I turned 2 more finials for my Acacia hf.
On the 1st one I did a simpler base and colored it so it would blend better with the sapwood, I think black may have looked better but the piece is so dark to begin with I thought a little contrast might work.
On the 2nd one I did another exclamation point style (I'm definitely no Keith Burns  ), on this one I simplified the base and was able to get a little more length out of the remains of the blank. Similar coloring on this one.

Kathy, I think the first one looks better to me. I think the design is where it needs to be.

Kathy I do like both of them and to me both would look ok on that form. I will say I do like the 1st on better though.

#1 floats my boat too. I especially like the way the finial nestles into the body of the piece. Very attractive piece Kathy.

I think they both work very well. I like how they flow from the form to the base of the finial...

Super job Kathy. I think the smooth curves of the form work better for me with the second finial. I like the simple gentle curve. That said, They both look great.

Thanks guys!
I think I'm leaning towards the 1st one too. I don't think I got the form right on the 2nd, something about it just doesn't feel right.
