Wormy Cherry Burl Bowl. Got the wood from Jerry Sambrook a couple weeks ago. It fought tooth and nail to avoid being made into anything, but I was not in the mood to loose a fight with a piece of wood. I think this is my first attempt to turn something with such major voids. No finish at the moment, the wood is still a bit green. Around 6" (15 cm) across.

I like it, Eric! You've chosen a lovely shape, and the bark/voids really add some interest. It'll be even better with a little finish!

very nice, Eric, it would be interesting to see how the cherry darkens naturally over time

Very nice Eric. Remember if it does not hold water it is art! G

Really nice Eric. I like it. I would soak it with like AO. I always do when I finish a green bowl and seems to cut down on the warping.

Thanks, I look forward to it being dry enough to finish. Since it's turned to final thickness, it should be not too long. I put it in a small cardboard box to avoid really rapid drying.

Yeah.you show that hunk of wood who's the boss! Glad you took on the battle as you sure got a nice return for the effort. Now for a nice soft finish to bring out all the color hiding in there. I'm looking forward to the finished piece.
