Thompson 5/8th long v gouge shank size.

So does anyone know right off hand the shank size of Bill Grumbines long V gouge? 1/2" or 5/8"? Thanks.

I have the Robert Sorby "U" version of the same thing. Mine says 1/2" or 13mm but when you measure it it 5/8" OD shank. If I remember right I compared it to the Thompson on Doug's web sight and his is also 5/8". Should be easy to check.

Thompson uses the diameter of the steel when sizing, not the width of the flute. So 5/8" should be the correct size of the steel itself.
