I bouight a used MM20 last week and the fella that had it really wore out the blade guides. All but one spins freely and they have been soaking in wd 40 for a week. The back thrust bearing has grooves in it. Is there a better set of euro guides out on the internet or should I just order them from Minimax? Should I try ceramic euro guides? I have never had a bandsaw this big or used one with euro guides before so I dont know what to look for in these type of guides.

Thanks,
Jack

I have Laguna ceramic guides on my MM20. They are very easy to set up and work very well. Price is the only down side.

While I do no have anything as nice as an MM20 I do have a 20+ year old S45 MM and when the original blade guides went south I found more than adequate replacements from Carter. YMMV

I was never a fan of the Euro guides. I replaced the Euro guides on my MM16 with HD Carter bearing guides.

i first changed my mm16 to carters & then to laguna ceramic - found them to be the best - offer lots more blade support.

I bought a set of Carter's for my MM16 which is the later one with 16" cutting depth and had to return them because the mount was too short. They my be making a longer one now but I'd check before ordering. When the Euros on mine go I'm going to try the Lagunas.

I replaced the original Euro-style guides on my Laguna LT18 with their ceramic guides, and they are fantastic. Lots more support all around.
