I bought the 2 hp harbor freight dc. I planned on using either 4 or 6 inch s&d PVC. The inlet on this dc is 5", what do you guys use to start the duct work. They don't make a 5" to 4" or 5" to 6" reducer in s&d pvc

I went with 4" ducting (should have gone 6") and used a short section of the discharge hose mated to a 5 to 4 reducer I bought. Seems to work ok.

i can't beleive the difference between 4" and 6" s&d pvc. 6" wye is $16, the 4" is $4.70

Just go with 5" 26 ga steel from the BORG (just over a buck a foot) and check with your local HVAC supply house or tinknocker for the wyes and other goodies. Sorry, steel just seems right. Kind of like eating steak for dinner instead of tofu.
